May 2009 Career Workshop, Lagos

The 8th Career Counselling, Industry Awareness and Youth Empowerment Workshop was held in Lagos on the 26th of May, 2009 at the Shell Hall, MUSON Centre. Participants from various parts of Lagos and its environs attended the programme in the auditorium with a total of 1,133 Students in attendance, 104 teachers and 13 District Counsellors; also in attendance were five undergraduates from higher institutions of learning, staff of supporting Companies, 27 CEO Role Models and 18 Dignitaries from different walks of life. The media was adequately represented with 38 pressmen and women in attendance.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Ibilola Amao, Project Consultant - Vision 2020 Youth Empowerment and Restoration Initiative, who welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and shared her views on Nigeria’s peculiar situation at present and the challenges faced globally and the need for more Nigerians to take an active interest in the Oil and Gas Industry.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Mr. Bola Akano, representing the Managing Director of Addax Petroleum Nigeria, our Platinum Sponsor who stated that the future of the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry is bright for indigenous operators, international oil companies, vendors and stakeholders who are prepared to add value to the Nigerian economy.
